I engage with what becomes necessary. What moves me, keeps me moving.

My tongue tastes the salty spray on my lips while the wind whistles through the ship's rigging. The underside of my laptop burns on the bare skin of my thighs. Before me lies the ocean.

This is where most of my books were born.

I usually write in German, but one of the books is available in English: Only with my parents

My research begins where life pulls me in and no ready answers exist.

One of my daughters stopped eating at the age of 14 and drank nothing but oat milk for three months. During the day I watched her, at night I read everything I could find. Anorexia nervosa moved through my life like a ghost with the silent intent to kill my daughter. I began to conduct my own research. Today my daughter is recovered, and I present my findings at international conferences.

My entry into educational research came through observation: the moment I felt what a genuine encounter between a teacher and a child can do, I wanted to understand what teachers need for that connection to become possible. The world of work these children will enter is changing faster through AI than education systems can respond. What children need to find their way in it is known; how schools can effectively foster these competencies is less so. That is where my research begins.

Not every insight becomes a book. Some end up here.
